WTOP Announces New “Squats and Margaritas” Podcast with local lifestyle blogger Erin Washington

Washington, D.C. (September 21, 2020) – WTOP has partnered with local lifestyle blogger (and margarita enthusiast) Erin Washington on her new podcast, Squats and Margaritas.”

As a mom of two children, juggling workouts, playdates, and happy hours, Washington subscribes to the philosophy of living life with balance. Washington is also a former college athlete who struggled with weight and body image for 20 years. At 37, she finally found her best body after having two kids.

“I created my ‘Squats and Margaritas’ brand and wrote my book because I wanted to help women who struggled like I did,” said Washington. “Now, my podcast gives me a way to continue that conversation and connect with people each and every week.”

In the podcast, Washington talks fitness, cocktails and whatever's trending with authentic guests who tell it like it is.

“WTOP is always looking for thoughtful, local influencers to partner with in the podcast space,” said Julia Ziegler, WTOP’s Director of News & Programming. “I have been following Erin on Instagram for a while and absolutely love the engaging, authentic interviews she does in that medium. Creating a podcast with the same energy was a natural extension of Erin’s terrific brand. We’re elated to have her join our podcast family.”

“All I can say is that if you have a dream, if you want to do something, do it. Just put it out there,” said Washington. “You never know who could be watching and could make your dream a reality.”

The “Squats and Margaritas” podcast launched Monday, September 7, 2020. The first three episodes feature the following guests and topics:

  • Ep. 1 – Tiffany Jenkins, social media super star and best-selling author - People know her as the personality behind @jugglingthejenkins on Instagram and YouTube. From drug addiction, jail time and a suicide attempt, Tiffany Jenkins shares it all.

  • Ep. 2 – Julie Donaldson and Bram Weinstein, SVP of Media and play-by-play announcer for the Washington Football Team – Donaldson and Weinstein answer questions like were they hesitant to join the organization amidst the recent misconduct allegations? Has Julie even processed that she’s the first woman on a regular NFL radio broadcast?

  • Ep. 3 – Jill Coleman – Nutritionist, trainer, business coach and co-founder of The Metabolic Effect - Coleman discusses mindfulness, why diets aren’t sustainable and why women should focus more on strength training than cardio.
